that come to discover the yachts along the southern quay
of the marina (Bassin Ouest), will be able to see the entertainment
on offer throughout the four days that precede the race.

by the Channel, Scène Nationale de Calais, in the
presence of Sir John Holmes, Ambassador of Great Britain

The start of
a great race merits a great signal. What could be more popular,
more magical, more festive, than fireworks? Le Channel has
called upon the services of Marc Jaumot and his team once
again. These compose a unique fireworks display, synchronised
to the sounds of a band right by the sea, with an underlying
note on this anniversary year for the Entente Cordiale.

around 1345 hours the yachts leave the quayside and make
for the start line at the foot of the Blanc Nez.
1500
hours : start of the " 1000 milles de Calais "
given by Nicolas Hénard, two times gold medallist
in the Olympic Games in Barcelona and Seoul from "
HMS Quorn " of the Royal Navy.
To celebrate
the centenary of the Entente Cordiale in Calais the Royal
Navy and the French Navy will delegate the " HMS Quorn
" and the " Pégase " which will materialise
symbolically on Sunday 9 May at the start line of the "
1000 milles de Calais " at the foot of the cliffs of
the Blanc Nez.
